Ivy and Hugh

I’ve been meaning to blog about this wedding from the end of May!Hugh and Ivy were married in Piedmont on a beautiful day! Everything was perfect, the day was clear but not too hot! It was an amazing day and they had such a beautiful wedding and a fun reception! I love all 3 of Ivy’s dresses that day, she started with a colorful Chinese dress, transitioned to a chic Western wedding dress and finally a super cute gold dress to dance in. I love how they honored their family cultures in their wedding!

Ivy is so beautiful and the colors of her dress are so vibrant.

Their sweet and intimate first glance session.

The fitting traditional ceremony music.

So cute! I love doing non traditional formals!

Don’t you just love their wedding colors?

I love the expressions in this picture!!

Hugh and Ivy are a gorgeous couple, and so easy to get beautiful pictures of; they were so in love and so happy.

One of my favorites!! I love the wall color.

They had a tea reception instead of a cocktail hour. I thought the idea was really neat!

Father/daughter and mother/son dance together. So sweet, I got all teary eyed *sniff*

Hugh decided he wanted to try his hand at wedding photography and sniped my camera!

Ivy dancing the night away!

And their magical kiss of the night!

Cristi & Rus

Another yummy couple! What can I say, I just really luck out with the people I work with. Cristi and Rus are so fun and so into all the different things we were doing. As I told Cristi to close her eyes and think of Russ, her reply was “I’m sorry I was thinking of donuts because my stomach growled and I’m hungry.” How can I not love that? She also loves watching the haunting shows on TV like me!

Cristi and Rus are to be married on the famous Queen Mary in Long Beach. We started the first half of their e-session high on the hill overlooking Long Beach and ended their e-session in the famous haunted Queen Mary herself. Too bad we didn’t see any ghosts!

I love the emotion and intimacy. Their outfits and colors just really makes the image.

Russ, when I said “give me attitude!” He then started throwing fake gang signs but that is another story all together!

One of my favorites from the whole session.

Loving the colors

Cristi’s cute shoes!

Ok, so this poster just made us laugh! Good thing times have changed. Well, I hope!

Within the hallways of the big girl! She’s just so gorgeous.

I really love the next two. And I love Russ’ expressions in them.

Thanks for all the fun guys! And we’ll see you next week for even more fun!

Little Miss Sophia

Cute little Miss Sophia is a fellow friend of Nathan Carian. She’s beautiful, she’s adorable and she has cute punk hair! We went to her house in the Bay Area to shoot her portrait session. What a diva!

The Last Sneak Peek

Sara and Jerad are finally getting married today in Arden Hills Country Club, a beautiful and exclusive club in Sacramento. So I just wanted to post 3 quick sneak peeks from Sara’s bridal at Arden Hills. She’s so beautiful!

Something about this image just reminds me of the old Hollywood black and white movies!

Love this one!

And now we leave for her wedding. I bet it will be tons of fun!

Tatiana & Valdrin

Ok, so maybe enough with the personal thoughts! Here is another super awesome and colorful New York session to blog about! Taty & Valdrin. A super fun, super trendy couple. I had so much fun! We went around the Village and found the most amazing spots!

Hot! I love how all the colors worked together!

Super sexy.

Just my luck that the lady passing by is wearing the perfect colors!

Loving all the pink!

Feels so vintage!

One of my favorite shots of the session

Another favorite

I love the feeling of this shot, like I secretly took a pic of them!

Somehow, this amused us, colorful Barbies of New York!

Wedding Photography and the Wedding Budget

A friend recently sent me this CNN article about wedding budgets. Yes, we all know that a wedding budget can slowly add up or quickly get out of control. We have all heard the rants on how the wedding industry is getting crazier. But honestly, between you and me, this does not have to be the case and beautiful weddings can be done without going overboard.

The CNN article really brings up many good points. And if you have a friend who is a blooming Martha Stewart to be, then you are in luck! DIY items adds both charm and individuality to a wedding. I have seen some beautifully done DIY items from wish threes to candy buffets.

One statement from the CNN article under the “Target where to save, where to splurge” headline rings true for me:

Michelle and Jason knew exactly where they would loosen the purse strings: photography. “That was one area we didn’t want to scrimp on,” says Michelle.

I have met way too many women who have said they wished they splurged more on photography or that they knew about us when they got married. I am not just saying this because I am a wedding photographer but a good wedding photographer will make your wedding look gorgeous and make a bride look and FEEL fabulous. A good wedding photographer knows how to pick angles that flatter you. We know how to get the shots that portray your personality. We also know how to get the shots that express your love, intimacy and devotion. We work hard to accentuate the beauty of your wedding. We look at the light, the architecture, squeal at the marvelous colors, get excited over table settings and we delight in every little detail, every litle bow, and every flower petal. We can make you look and most importantly, feel, glamorous, chic and beautiful. Simply put, a good wedding photographer is not just a photographer, we are artists and that is what I believe in. Our work is not simply photographs but works of art, emotion and memories. Wedding photographs are an artform.

There are wedding photographers for every budget range. But what you are paying for is not just technical skill but artistic skill. And skill and talent are two very hard things to put tangible money figures on. Then comes experience, and that creative eye that is priceless.

We are completely different from your normal wedding vendor, we believe in personal attention and service. We start working even before the wedding. During our consultations, we are figuring out what the perfect couture wedding collection would be for you. We are taking our time to get to know you and get on a personal level. We have had 3 hour consults because we devote that much personal attention. We spend the day with you during your engagement session. We laugh, we share, we smile together and have fun. Many of our couples end up extending their engagement sessions as well.

Then comes the big day. We are the vendors that are there from start to finish. We usually start when the bride is getting ready in the morning or mid afternoon. By this time, I always feel like we are friends sharing the special day. I am there holding her hand, jumping up and down with her in excitement. I am enjoying the bridesmaids’ excited chatter and inside jokes. Before the ceremony, I am there reminding her to breathe and that she is gorgeous. I smile during the ceremony as they kiss for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. , and I tear up during the father daughter dance. I laugh and have fun with my bride and groom during the photo session and get in the middle of the action on the dancefloor. And frequently, you can find me feeling so honored when one of the mom’s tell me how much they loved their kids’ e-session. In short, we make sure we wear comfortable shoes.

After the party, we laugh and exchange stories on the way home. We head home pumped, ready to sit down and edit the wedding photographs for weeks to come. We can’t wait for the day that we get to see you again to go over your photograps, prints and albums. We usually end up meeting again on your anniversary, for your maternity session and our favorite, for your newborn photos. We believe we remain friends with our clients because of our work, our connection and our personal service. But mostly because we love our clients, and we love what we do and that shows in our work. And all that is hard to put a price tag on.

Hollie + Mikie

Something about this e session is so sweet and so honest. I love the bond that these two share. We went to Old Town Sac for a little bit of fun for the first part of Hollie and Mikie’s e-session. Made me fall in love with the place all over again. Helps that they are both so in love with each other too!

I love Hollie’s smile!

Something about this is so intimate. Love it!

I love how the hair was blowing in the wind.

So sweet

And peaceful

And fun

Another one of my favorites
